The sixth edition of “Markets of the World” (MOW VI) held on June 6, 2017 at the WTCMM, featured China as a market for Philippine business in support of the government’s thrust to ally with China.
Distinguished entrepreneurs and Chinese resource persons spoke before the forum delegates representing food and agri-based exporters, logistics, manufacturing, trading and services. The guest speakers were led by Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the China Embassy Mr. Jin Yuan and the President of the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. Mr. Domingo Yap. The group shed light on various trading topics that are helpful to Filipino entrepreneurs looking to tap the Chinese market. Mr. Arnulfo Milambiling, General Manager of Contemporaneo Designs and Mr. Edwin Go, President and CEO of Shanghai Famous Philippine Food Company shared their actual experience in penetrating the Chinese market from documentation concerns to trade shows challenges and even cultural adjustments.
MOW VI provided an important convergence of professionals absorbing a wealth of information on China as a trade and investment partner of the Philippines. Testimonials from existing exporters in the food, furniture and logistics sector that have already penetrated the Chinese market provided a more meaningful discussion as these exporters shared their first-hand information on their good and bad experiences in doing business with the Chinese.
The past five (5) editions of MOW which featured different countries such as the US, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Taiwan, the Baltics and Nordics among others, have all been equally successful as they attracted a good mix of participants from government and private sectors; and from small- and-medium enterprises and multinational companies.
