February 6, 2018
The World Trade Center Metro Manila (WTCMM) successfully concluded the “Markets of the World” (MOW) VII last Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the WTCMM, Pasay City.
MOW VII, now on its 5th year, featured the five emerging BRICS nations, such as Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, all leading developing or newly industrialized countries that represent approximately 40% of the world's population. These G20 member-countries are distinguished by their large, sometimes fast-growing economies and significant influence on regional affairs. The distinguished speakers talked about the status of the economy as well as trade and investment opportunities in their respective countries.
Among the other topics discussed were the economic highlights as a result of the recently concluded ASEAN Summit in the Philippines, as well as the policy statements of each of the ASEAN leaders during the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (ABIS) 2017 organized by the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (BAC). Also discussed were the agreements, gains, directions, insights and learnings to enable Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSME) and Small, Medium Enterprises (SME) to strategize and move forward amidst the fast-changing environment and benefit from the increased openness of global markets.
MOW VII was attended by delegates representing varied industries, from manufacturing, exports and imports of various products, food, health and wellness products, construction, logistics and distribution, packaging, events management and marketing communication; HR consultancy, ICT, hotels, trade associations, and government agencies. It provided an insightful convergence of professionals absorbing a wealth of information on the BRICS and ASEAN trade blocs as trade and investment partners of the Philippines.
